MILTON, Florida - It's a party Naval Air Station Whiting Field Style, and you are invited!!
NAS Whiting is celebrating it's 66th anniversary with a day packed full of military equipment demonstrations, music and fun.
It's the base's way of thanking the community for tremendous support over the years.
Santa Rosa county has been home to Whiting Field Naval Air Station since 1943.
Up to 20 thousand people are expected to attend festivities Saturday, October 24th from 10 am to 4pm.
Demonstrations include skydivers from Emerald Coast Skydivers, a firefighter's demonstration, an unmanned aeriel systems demonstration, model aircraft demonstrations, a Coast Guard survivor hoisting demonstration, and possibly a Cobra and Huey helicopter demonstration.
The Navy Band of New Orleans will play for two hours beginning at noon, followed by Rusty Whitfield performing at 2pm.
Country music sensation Lonestar will perform at 4pm.
The anniversary celebration and concerts are FREE.

Calling car enthusiasts!
The South Alabama British Car Club is holding it's 19th Annual British car Festival at Fairhope Beach Park.
It's free to the public.
It's Saturday, October 24th.
Popular choice balloting is from noon to 2. Awards will be given about at 3pm.

Give a plant, get a plant. This "fun" raiser..not fundraiser gets underway at 1706 Old Shell Road Saturday from 10 am to 2pm.
It's a fall plant swap. no money is exchanged. Trade plants for plants.
Everything should be potted and labeled...nothing larger than a 5 gallon container.
You'll get a random number for every plant you bring...then pick as numbers are called.

The Mobile County Health Department has three dates left this month for free breast exams.
Saturday, October 24th at the Eight Mile Clinic on Saint Stephens Road, Thursday October 29th at The Wal-Mart Supercenter on South Beltline Highway, and October 30th at it's Women's Center on Cox Street.
Breast exam clinics at The Eight mile Clinic and Wal-Mart will be from 9 am to 2pm. No appointment is necessary at those locations.
But, you have to schedule an appointment for the Women's Center, call 690-8889.


Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for a free concert at the Gulfside Pavillion in Pensacola Beach.
The Kyle Parker Band will get things moving with hits like "Born on the Bayou" and "Hard to Handle".

The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with local employment experts to put on a five part seminar series called "Job Search Strategies For Today's Economy".
Chamber Spokesperson, Ashley Horn says, "Each one will be different. So you can attend one, you can attend all of them. One will be about resume' writing. One will be about just dealing with if you have lost your job..dealing with losing your job and how to get started and what to do steps that you can take for it. One's about networking, about how to really network, get your name out there to get people to actually notice you and hire you".
The seminars will be on Monday nights from 6 to 8 in Byrne Hall at Spring Hill College.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is putting on a free self defense class for women.
It's planned for this Saturday at Crestview High School.
It runs from ten until noon.
You have to pre-register for the class, and you will be required to sign a waiver..
