There were two lost animals in the Grand Bay area Monday. That may not sound unusual, but they were not dogs or cats: they were horses.
Hamilton Holberg said he and his father found the horse and the pony in the middle of Ben Hamilton Road Monday about 1 pm.
Holberg said, "We called my mother to see if they knew anyone who (owned them) because they're a few horse farms around."
Holberg's mother, Regina, said, "I went and searched around a little bit trying to see where possibly they came from or who they could have belonged to, and haven't been able to find it, so I went ahead and brought them home because, if mine had gotten out, that's what I would hope somebody would do."
The horse is huge: the Holbergs estimated about 17 or 18 hands.
Regina Holberg said, "Somebody is probably looking for them and worried. They've been cared for. But horses are mischievous, if they can get out, they're going to get out."
Today, however, they were guests at the Holberg's horse farm being waited on hand and hoof.
But we can report some good news.
Regina Holberg called News Five about 7 pm Monday and said the owners of the horses came to her house to pick them up.
The horses had gotten off their property.
