A Mobile man faces child abuse charges. Police say an eight month old baby was burned.
Mobile Police arrested David Ozment Tuesday and charged him with willful abuse of a child.
Police say Ozment was babysitting October 3.
The baby's mother told police that Ozment called her one hour later and said the baby had been burned in the bathtub. Police say Ozment is a former doctor and wrapped up the baby's leg.
Police say the mother took the baby to the hospital the next day. The baby was flown to UAB for third degree burns. The baby also had bruises on his face and body.
Police have also charged Ozment with practicing medicine without a license.

Below is the full release from the Mobile Police Department:

On October 28, 2008, Investigators assigned to the Child Advocacy Center arrested David Ozment (41) for abusing an eight-month old male child. The abuse occurred at Ozment’s residence located at 1500 Hillcrest Rd. on October 3rd. The mother dropped the child off for Ozment to baby-sit. Approximately one-hour after the child was dropped off, Ozment contacted the mother to inform her that the child had been burned in the bathtub. Ozment, a former doctor, bandaged the child’s leg. The mother took the child to USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital on the next day and the doctors at USA had the child transported by ambulance to the UAB Burn Unit to receive treatment for third degree burns. The child has since returned home. The child also sustained bruises to his face and body.

Ozment is a friend of the child’s mother and apparently had been medically treating the child as a physician although his license is no longer valid. Warrants were signed against Ozment on October 27th and he is charged with Willful Abuse of a Child and Practicing Medicine Without a License.

Who is to say he hasn’t had psych-evals?

oops.. Type in the last name “Ozment” to search

After typing in the albme.org.  Then click on Licensee search/verification, then licensee search, then scroll all the way to the bottom and click on “enter”. Then just type in “Dodd”. At the bottom of that page is “public docments”.

Claycity:  Type in albme.org and then type in Ozment.  At the bottom of the page is “public documents”...you will see he is a drug addict.

i would be interested to know what happened to his medical license. anyone have time to research it. searched alabama medical board and coudlnt find anything.

Not much of a doctor if he didn’t know the water was too hot for a eight month old baby. Why would the mother wait until the next day to take the baby to the hospital with third degree burns? Just wondering.

Pretty sick.  He is scary looking.  He needs a good scalding!

How does the saying go…whats good for the goose is good for the gander.  I agree with you on this one.

Sounds like he needs a psych-eval!  Let the mother at him first, burn his leg, and throw away the key.  Freak!
