BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Former Gov. Guy Hunt is hospitalized in
Birmingham and using a respirator.
The 75-year-old former governor has battled lung cancer for
several years. But his son, Keith Hunt, said his father began to
have stomach problems recently and had trouble eating. Doctors
determined it was his gall bladder rather than the cancer.
Keith Hunt said Monday his father had gall bladder surgery three
weeks ago in Birmingham and has been on a respirator since then. He
said his father communicates with family members by nodding his
head and squeezing their hands, and they are hopeful he will get
off the respirator soon.
