A former Bayou La Batre councilman is out of jail and waiting for his next court date.Henry Barnes turned himself into police Wednesday afternoon. He's charged with second degree arson.
Police say Barnes tried to burn down a house he owned on Downey Street last week when a controlled burn got out of control.
Barnes tells us that he did set some fires around the home but he was only trying to kill fleas.
The former politician is expected back in court on July 15th.
