11:22 a.m.
Foley police went to the house at 6:00 a.m. to serve a search warrant. They knocked and then entered while yelling "Police! Search Warrant!"
The home owner's son, 51-year-old Michael Woods, had told an undercover officer that he had a large amount of marijuana in the house.

Police arrested Woods and his mother, before his father, 77-year-old Robert Woods, came out of the master bedroom with a handgun. Chief David Wilson says his officers yelled at Woods to drop the gun. Instead, Woods shot officer Randy Stallworth in the upper thigh of his left leg and then pointed the gun at police again. At that point, several officers shot & killed Woods.

Officer Stallworth is at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola. He will need surgery, but is expected to be ok.

All the officers involved in the shooting will be placed on paid adminstartive leave pending the investigation.

Michael Woods was arrested and charged with two felony counts of distributing marijuana.

9:42 a.m.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Baldwin County District Attorney and Sheriff's Office are investigating a deadly police shooting involving Foley police.

According to Chief David Wilson, officers were serving a search warrant Wednesday morning at a home on East Ashford Park Drive. When they came inside, a "member of the house" opened fire and shot one officer in the leg. Several officers returned fire killing the gunman. The wounded officer was airlifted to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.

The cops should have called the house and requested the presence of Michael Woods at a secure place like oh maybe the police dept? Well, they didn’t need to bother that judge who issued the warrant. I wonder if the judge had warned the cops. “CAREFUL GUYS.., there might be innocent bystanders.” Why try to catch a DEALER not just a user?

Why is the homeowner who came out with a loaded gun, aimed it at people then pulled the trigger not responsible for his actions?

Thanks truthskr-you would think it would be a SIMPLE concept…

rmseek1234: Thank you for doing your best to try and make these laymen undestand what is a very simple concept!! There was only two people responsible for the mans death. The dope dealer and the man who pulled the trigger of his gun before knowing what was going on.

And just my opinion, based on what is reported here-the situation was under control, until the man came out shooting, and refused to drop it. I still do not understand how this supposedly hard of hearing man, heard his wife scream from across the house, yet failed to hear multiple officers yelling POLICE! WARRANT! and then when they were with in his target practice zone-NOT hear them yell DROP IT! He hears one voice, across the house, but not multiple police voices?

I will be glad to hear the outcome of the investigation, the charges on the son, and charges, if any, on others if involved.

OK-that was a vague answer…but an answer. Let me ask you this…Originally, they went to the house to serve a warrant based on information gathered (from the dealer himself) and ?corrobarated by other means regarding a “large amount of dope in the home.” How could they have recovered the drugs and proceeded with the case without searching the home-ie…the warrant? Yes, they could have arrested the guy off-site for possession, but it turns into a totally different ballgame when it is felony distribution/trafficking. That’s big fish. If arrested off-site for possession, he could be out within hours. Felony charges, depending on what, he may not see the light of day until he goes to the courthouse for arraignment, and then bail may be denied.

Again, what if this was a meth lab situation and a 27 year old? Would it have been different? There are a lot of meth labs and crack houses right in the middle of highly populated areas-including some apartments (talk about proximity).

I can answer this question by stating that the police had the ability to control this situation. They could have done this in a way that wouldn’t involve the family of this drug dealer. The have bought from him before bust him then don’t wait until you put other peoples life in danger. If one of those bullets killed a child in a nearby house it would be terrible but not impossible,no control the of the situation. It’s not that i don’t respect the police but the call on this one was dead wrong.
Alabamoutlaw

By not answering a question-it PROVES you have no freakin’ clue what you are talking about…sideline keystone cops…

Talk about people twisting and spinning…Are you a choreographer alabamaoutlaw? I’d really like to learn that new dance you and mrscc have developed…step, step, twist, spin, now dip-lol

OMG-why can’t you people answer a simple question-WHAT SHOULD THE POLICE HAVE DONE AS THEY WERE BEING SHOT AT??? This was a known drug dealers home, who had made sales to undercover narcs before. Would you feel differently had it been a meth lab and a 27 year old shot? Is that the issue? None of you are in LE, yet YOU want to tell LE HOW to do their job, WHEN to do their job, blah, blah…. You don’t know what investigation and preparation went into this before hand. You don’t know what the circumstances were for the other warrant/bust being handled differently-maybe those folks ANSWERED the door when they KNOCKED and didn’t come out shooting.

I have not said whether the police were right or wrong-only that ACCORDING TO THIS REPORT-they FOLLOWED PROCEDURE-something you wannabe sideline keystone cops know NOTHING about. I am voicing an opinion based on this report-period. NEXT! The two people that WERE wrong though are in jail, and dead. Period.

Like I said, “It doesn’t hurt to keep trying”.

TAG YOU’RE IT!

Run with it alabamaoutlaw. lol
