You know Surf, maybe the reason why Florida State is having so much trouble with scandal after scandal is because of the fine example they have leading it. I would have thought that someone with 30 years of experience in education would be somewhat more reserved, less emotional, than shooting his mouth off at every opportunity.

Surf -  First off, my intention isn’t to be un-biased about it. It’s a matter of class to me. Howard is a good school, even back when Coach Bowden attended it, even when one of his sons taught there. It was a good school, and still is an excellent school. Every institution of higher sducation has it’s good qualities and it’s bad. I am supportive of all the higher education istitutions I attended, I didn’t go to any of them for the football team, or the basketball team, although I do enjoy the sports so much, I went because it produced individuals at the top of their fields. It’s logical.
And lets talk about where you went to school, Bama, beloved Crimson Tide, survived the Civil War has has so much history behind it. And many excellent schools in the top of their fields. Which is why I chose it for Grad school. Yeah, graduated from there too. Guess that makes us all elite, hunh.

starrione, took your advice, checked the website. It appears that fall enrollment since 1991 totals on avearge about 4200 students. You’re right, that’s a “REALLY BIG” school you got there.

Or maybe you’d like to compare your athletic teams to the school I attended, The University of Alabama Crimson Tide? He wasn’t comparing the academic situations, he was comparing the athletic situations, but I can assure you that there are MANY more lawyers, doctors, etc, that have graduated from Alabama and Florida State than ever even attended “your” school. Anyway, I thought Samford was a “christian” university. You seem a little “edgy” to be a Samford grad.

Well starrione, let me explain in great detail.  You-oviously have a “biased” opinion on this subject, I’m sure you won’t be able to be objective, but I’ll try anyway. First of all, compared to Florida State, Samford IS a “piss-ant” school. Shall we compare enrollment numbers, or maybe we should compare the overall impact of Samford grads vs Florida State grads? Or maybe you’d like to compare athletic situations? Is Samford a Div 1 school? Has Samfords’football team EVER been ranked in the top 20? has Samfords’ basketball team ever been ranked in the top 20? How many blue chip recruits have attended your “great” university? Let’s try this angle, has Florida State ever been named anything other than Florida State? I see in the story, your school used to be called “Howard”. In the context of what he (the “pres” of Fla St) was talking about, which was athletic competion, he was exactly correct. Would you compare your athletic teams over the years to Fla St? Continued on next post…......
