"My little boy was right there asleep in his bed and if the bullet would of went to the right it would've went into that room,"Said Hodge.
Investigators say a 5 year old girl living across the road got a hold of a rifle when it went off, sending a bullet across Elon Street through Hodge's trailer where it ricocheted off a Lysol can and landed in a storage closet.
"I was like oh my god my baby's in there...and we hadn't heard him so I thought maybe he could've been shot. When I went in there he wasn't, he was fine," Said Hodge's wife Julie.
The Hodge's say they are not angry because the neighbors took responsibility for the stray bullet right away.
"They came across the street and asked did it hit our trailer and we were like what," Said Hodge.
"It was an accident that's it,"Said the five year old's grandmother. She didn't want to continue our conversation on camera, but told us she would like to apologize. But the Hodge's say they are more concerned about this being a lesson.
"We just want it not to happen again...that's all we want, just for them to keep a little bit better watch on her. Maybe this will teach people a lesson not to leave loaded guns around, anything could happen,"Said William Hodge.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office says the girl's family is not facing any criminal charges. But a spokesman tells us they confiscated the rifle while the incident is being investigated.
