FAIRHOPE, Alabama - There's something fishy going on in Fairhope. I’m talking about the city’s new fountain, the Mullet Run. City officials dedicated the bronze sculpture at a special ceremony tonight, 10/18/09. The fountain is a large copper bowl with several abstract fish flying above it. The artist who designed it says she wanted to highlight the influence of the bay on our local heritage.

“So many different aspects of life here, from the fishing industry to vacation, the hotel and recreational aspect of it,” says America Jones Gallaspy. If you want to check out the fountain for yourself, it sits behind the Fairhope Museum, downtown. Construction was completed on the fountain in July. Gallaspy says the fountain cost $100,000. The money came from the sale of wooden pelicans. I did that story more than two years ago, ah, memories.
