The four year old boy is a patient of Dr. Lisa McDonough with Children's Medical Group. She made the diagnosis May 4th. The state health department confirmed it today.

McDonough tells News 5 the boy is doing fine.

"We had put him on Tamiflu, which slows down viral replication and he was much better the next day," McDonough said. "His temp was down to 99, he was feeling better. She kept her children home. After a day or two, none of the other children had symptoms, so they went back to school."

McDonough was not sure if the boy attended daycare.

The swine flu has spread to Mobile County.

The Alabama Department of Public Health lab in Montgomery confirmed a 4 year old child tested positive for swine flu. It was first recognized by the child's pediatrician in Mobile.

There are now 27 confirmed cases and 28 probable cases of swine flu in Alabama. Of the 55 probable and confirmed cases, 32 are from Madison
County, seven are from Jefferson County, six were in Montgomery County, three were found in Limestone County, Pike and Mobile counties each had two cases and Shelby, Calhoun and Etowah counties had one case each.

On Wednesday, the State Health Department said it has received certification from the CDC in Atlanta to perform its own confirmations.

I think the Health Department should release some sort of info, whether it be a general location of the child, and what schools the older children go to.  No names, just info.

Mob1, I second that!  Will the county health dept. release that info?  It only makes sense that they would.  This has me a little worried.

OK, now we know the 4yr old has tested positive being a parent this is sad to hear. Now what I would like to know, does the child attend a day care or does he stay at home with mom or dad. I personally would like to know if a child has tested positive at my sons day care. Which specific child doesn’t matter, but that a child is positive would be nice to know.

Sigh. I’m so glad I’m over 13! Time to start drinking some orange juice, I suppose.
