Summer vacation is over. Today is the first day of school for students in Mobile and Baldwin County public schools. Some private schools started back last week.Police want drivers to slow down and pay attention. You can expect to see officers out in force in school zones and along bus routes to make sure everyone in obeying the law.
In Alabama, if you are caught speeding in a school zone or passing a school zone, you could be fined up to $300. If you get caught a fourth time, your driver's license could be suspended for a year.
