A Mobile fire chief is in hot water with the department and police.

Police arrested Mobile Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Fred Sims Saturday on drunk driving charges.

Police have not yet released details on the arrest, but Mobile Fire Rescue spokesman Steve Huffman said Sims is currently on leave while the department investigates the circumstances that lead to his DUI arrest.

Sims was released early Sunday morning after posting a $1,000 bond.

The fire department has a pretty liberal disability plan.  He can probably go for treatment and fade into the sunset at full salary.

It has been confirmed that Simms was off duty this time, this is his second DUI. The first DUI was in his assigned city vehicle.  There seems to be a more serious underlining issue that needs to be dealt with.  It appears that the chief is calling out for HELP!  I’m not a psychologist but I did spend the night at Motel 6.

That’s good to know.  The timing of the reports made it look like he was cruising around downtown a little after noon and already skunked.

Thanks Jamie.

Sims was off duty and driving a personal vehicle.

The article does not make it clear when this took place other than Saturday.  The update times only cause more confusion.  The location raises a couple of questions too.

That would be information that people would want to know.  This a public forum.  Don’t attack.

I believe Bamabobs questions are valid.  If he was on duty or using a city owner vehicle would make a big difference in my opinion of what punishment he needs.  If he was using taxpayer funded vehicle and or on duty, job loss for sure.

Boondock - Why don’t you shove it in your ear.  I’m sure there is plenty of room in there.

BamaBob playing detective again…... Get over yourself.  If you want info so bad call the detective working the case.  You fuel to many conspiracy theories on here and get nowhere.
