
school boys basketball teams have been kicked out of the state
playoffs after a brawl on the court that escalated into the stands.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association placed both
programs on restrictive probation on Wednesday, barring them from
this postseason.
The fight occurred Tuesday during the fourth quarter of the
Class 5A regional semifinal game after a Valley player was called
for a foul.
Alabama State University was hosting the regional. University
spokesman Kenneth Mullinax said 11 juveniles were arrested on a
variety of charges, including assault.
AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese said the investigation
is ongoing and additional penalties will be assessed.
Carver was leading 52-37 at the time. Talladega High School will
advance because of the double forfeit.
