"Did you do what they say you did?" "No I did not," says Wellock.
Prosecutors say it was Wellock who made Danny Weaver, also known as 'Chubs', swear an oath to kill Bob Aitcheson as part of a ritual in a self appointed gang.
Last week, investigators say Weaver along with Keshjuan Betts, Darlene Jerkins and the victim's own son, Ian beat and stabbed Aitcheson to death before setting his home on fire to cover the crime.
"How did you get mixed up in all this?" "People talking," says Wellock on his way back to the county jail. "Do you know Danny and all those guys? "Yes ma'am." "Y'all friends?" "Yes ma'am. We used to be." "Did you know Mr. Aitcheson? What did you think of him?" "A very nice man," Wellock says of the victim.
Investigators say Amen Wellock was one of a number of teenagers who either lived or hung out at Robertsdale mobile home. Jonathan Cook also used to live there and says he knows everyone involved in the murder plot.
"It was normal whenever I stayed there. There wasn't really much violence. There wasn't too many people in and out and we just pretty much stayed to ourselves." Cook says that all changed when Wellock and Ian Aitcheson started coming around. "Ian, he's crazy. He's got problems just like Chubs does. Darlene she's just there because Chubs is her boyfriend."
Betts is the piece of the puzzle he says just doesn't fit. "He never got in trouble his whole entire life, never."
At a bond hearing, the teenager investigators say helped plan the murder was just a frightened kid, now facing grown up jail time.
"What do you want to tell your parents, your friends?" "I love y'all."
Wellock's bond was set at a million dollars. If convicted he faces up to 99 years in prison.
And this may not be the last arrests. Prosecutors call this a "fluid investigation" with more arrests expected.
