A Grand Bay fugitive is on the run a day after the Mobile County Sheriff's office says he murdered a friend. Investigators are looking for Ricky McCovery. He was last seen along Ben Hamilton Road. The sheriff's office says the suspect shot 43-year-old Lloyd Stevens. Stevens was taken to the hospital and later died. Relatives say Stevens and McCovery were long-time friends. A sheriff's office spokesperson says the two had a long-standing argument that escalated to a shooting. The two were at a party for the victim's aunt last night, Saturday, August 8, 2009. Members of the Stevens family say they're shocked by what happened. “They grew up with each other they're like family you never know what nobody can do to you these days, your own family, somebody you be with and call your friend,” says the victim’s sister Dinah Stevens. The sheriff's office says Ricky McCovery was last seen in a purple 2002 Avalanche with a Cadillac grill. It has Mississippi tags. If you see him, contact the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. In the video I put a clip of my interview with Dinah Stevens, followed by pictures of Lloyd Stevens and video of the crime scene from last night.
