MOBILE, Alabama - Friends of a west Mobile family burned out of their trailer home are rallying to help them replace what they lost.The fire broke out Monday afternoon in a trailer at the Ridgewood Acres trailer park at 940 Dawes Road.
The family of four, Tammy Barnes, Joey Aberling, and their children, two year old Cecelia, three year old Jaylynn, lost everything they owned when fire officials said an electrical malfunction touched off the intense blaze.
Barnes said, "I didn't know what to think, honestly. I knew I just lost everything."
No one was home when the fire broke out, but Barnes said, "This is unbelievable. I never gone through nothing like this. Its unbelievable."
Now, friends are trying to help with with their biggest needs first.
Andrea Vaughn said the "little girls need clothing. They probably all need clothing."
Neighbors who helped put the fire out on Monday, are now collecting donations.
The family doesn't have insurance.
Nicci Todd, a neighbor, said, "We're doing all that we can to get 2T and 3T clothes for the little girl. The mom wears a size nine, so we're doing everything we can to get clothes for them."
Barnes said, "Shirts, pants, socks, (we need) any kind of winter clothes. We just bought brand new clothes and we just lost that all."
Todd added, "The little girl cried to me yesterday. She (said) 'We lost everything,' and I was like, 'Well, all you can do now is just pray."
The family is living with Joey's father and grandfather.
