A former judge accused of sexually abusing inmates and defendants in his court is now facing more allegations.

Herman Thomas, 48, surrendered to authorities at Mobile Metro Jail Monday, three days after a special Mobile County Grand Jury indicted him on 46 new counts including sexual abuse, sodomy, kidnapping and extortion.

The charges are in addition to 57 similar counts Thomas pleaded not guilty to earlier this year.

The latest indictment brings the total number of alleged victims in the case to 15, all men who say the judge paddled them, touched them inappropriately and in some cases forced them to engage in oral and anal sex.

Thomas, who retired from the Circuit Court bench in October 2007 as rumors of the allegations started to surface, surrendered around 12:30 p.m. and was released about an hour later on his own recognizance.

Thomas' attorney, Bob Clark, scoffed at the indictment saying "you can take a ham sandwich over there, and you can get it indicted."

District Attorney John Tyson says the new charges will be added to the existing case and will be a part of the trial scheduled to begin October 5.

How can he possibly be out on bond?  Get real people.

Little big man, goin to the slammer,cuz he wanted to jack his hamma. The convicts goin think he so cool,but he nuthin but a greedy fool. They got witnesses and evidence from the floor,now he gonna wish he didn’t close the door. They call him Spanky cause he used a paddle. But the home boys in the cell done went and tattle. Bet if he could have one wish, it would be the soap don’t fall out the dish. Go Spanky, go Spanky-take it on down. Take it right out of town-to Atmore, cuz we don’t wanna look at your silly face no ‘mo.

I know….next Eminem I am NOT!lol smile

Hmmmmmmm…....... I don’t think we have hit the Top Ten yet.  LOL

Addle,saddle, fiddle-faddle, battle…

If I knew how to rap, I’d give it a try,
As we watch the dude with the booty slap, go bye-bye! He rode the pony, and a few things more, now all he’s gone hear is that big steel door. Hired him a cowboy to defend his case, cause he made it with too many of the wrong folks around the base. (rap noises)

Run with it BB!lol

Hermie Thomas took his axe
Gave the boy 40 whacks

When he saw what he had done
He gave the next guy 41

Nothing rhymes with paddle!  mad

I think you may have had it right the first time Ick. There are crooked people in all aspects of our government. Sometimes you can spot, for instance this guy and his bow tie, and sometimes it comes totally out of left field.
  I have not heard that song in a while Bob. Thanks for ruining some of my childhood memories. LOL.

This old man, he played one;
He played knick-knack on my tongue.
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a inmate a bone;
This old man came rolling home.

Herman was just being a good Greek-Letter person. Did his paddle have Greek letters on it? Animal House for real! He never progressed beyond the rush stage.

you think someone would have paid off, i mean tipped off the FBI about it.

This is insane. I have to agree in saying that there is no way this could have went on for such a period of time and so many different times and for no one to notice or suspect anything? Letting these people out early for his own “benefits” is absolutely mind boggling and disgusting. Sadly it does not come as a complete shock. How people like this are able to get into positions with such high power and authority? It is obvious that something needs to be done when appointing these people. These are the people that we are having to put our trust in to know that justice is being served and wrongs are somewhat being righted. I hope that he gets what he deserves, however one can not be certain. Especially with the way the courts are going these days.
