Elementary School Evacuated Due To Grass Fire

Alabama Baldwin County  Vaughn School in Stockton north of Bay Minette was evacuated because of a grass fire. UPDATED WITH NEW INFO AND SLIDESHOW

1:47 p.m.
- The fire has been contained.
- Most of the 130 students were picked up from the town hall/community center in Stockton by their parents.
-Stage Coach restaurant provided lunch for the students and staff.
-12 students returned to school until normal dismissal time.
- School will resume tomorrow as scheduled.

11:21 a.m.
Vaughn School in Stockton, north of Bay Minette, being evacuated due to a grass fire threatening the campus.

Terry Wilhite, a spokesman for Baldwin County Schools, says all students are being taken by bus to the town hall in Stockton. Wilhite wants to assure parents that the students are safe and sound. They will be held at the town hall until fire officials provide further directions.
