Churches across Mobile were busy with special Easter services. Big Zion AME Zion Church in downtown Mobile held a ceremony for resurrection Sunday. The congregation and choir took part in a special musical cantata. The even commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus. This is considered one of the most important days in the Christian religion.
“Our God is a living God, he will live in the hearts of each one of us as we allow Him to enter,” says church treasurer Isaiah Pinkney. “We don't serve a dead God but a risen God.” Some of the women in the congregation wore special festive hats for the Caster service. Pinkney says that's another tradition as old as the church itself.
