This comes on a night when folks packed the University of South Alabama Mitchell Center to tell Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions what they think of the issue.
Thursday evening, more than 200 people attended the public health care listening forum at the Mitchell Center.
Comments and questions for Senator Jeff Sessions ran the gamut.
One person said, "How do you think we can stop insurance companies from treating us so bad? And they keep making money, trillions."
Still another said, "We need some kind of public option or something where you can get in here and have some kind of safety net for people like me. I cannot get insurance at all under the present program."
"The CO-OP is only coming through the backdoor with this socialized medicine," said one woman in the crowd. "No CO-OP."
Yet another posed a question.
She asked, "Concerning President Obama, last year, when we were in a deep recession and things were really bad, he stepped into an awful mess. Why can't we just get behind him just a little bit and encourage him and just see where he might go?"
Sessions also spoke about a report that aides to President Obama have talked with a moderate Republican senator about a compromise health care plan.
It would not include a government health insurance option, but one could be added later if insurance companies don't make reforms to increase coverage and lower costs.
Sessions said, "I don't think just because that's out (the government option) we just ought to adopt the rest of the proposal. I think it needs a a lot of work and a lot of study."
