On January 12 Mobile Fire Officials announced openings for the position of firefighter. One of the requirements for potential employees if you were not a certified firefighter already was to have passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and by contacting the Alabama Fire College for that testing.

Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) will be conducting a CPAT May 11-22. There are only 500 open testing positions available. To sign up for the CPAT test potential candidates must go to MFRD’s Festival Center training facility on Montlimar Drive on Friday, February 13 or Saturday, February 14 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Candidates must bring and show their drivers license to sign up for the CPAT Test.

For those that sign up in February, MFRD will have a video orientation on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 from between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. This is not an offer of employment; this is just for taking the CPAT. Candidates that pass the CPAT in May will then be eligible to fill out an application for the position of firefighter and take the written Firefighter test.

Salary range is $2,446-$3,911 monthly or $29,361-$46,938 annually plus benefits.
For more information contact the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department’s Training Division at 208-2863. You can also visit www.cityofmobile.org/fire.
