Sgt. Ted Roy tells News 5 says it happened about 1:05 this morning. He said a woman was driving south bound on Palafox near Nine Mile Road. A white Crown Victoria passed her with blue lights on the dash and signalled her to stop. The woman called 911 and dispatch. As soon as dispatch put it out, the suspect turned off the lights drove off. We will bring you more details on this developing story tonight on News Five at 5,6 and 10pm.

I live in southern NJ.  Someone broke into cleaners in Bridgeton NJ and stole NJ State Police uniforms first week of January this year.  See story in NJ.com, Cumberland county news.
My family is in south Mississippi, so I check news of Mobile/Biloxi as well as my news up here in Philadelphia/NJ.

Thank you tide. thats all i needed to know grin point is well taken… unless a disco is behind you, don’t stop lol!!! grin

This story does (did) have a video with the woman who called it in. It was on WEAR 3 last night on the news. That’s probably why WKRG didn’t have it on yet.

Ive stated this before and will do so again for those to read….Police cars dont have the one blue light anymore….they have MANY LIGHTS..AND THEY ARE STROBES OR LED’S. The old blue revolving lights are obsolete and I know of no agency that uses single strobes or LED’s. If its a police vehicle that normally stops vehicles..it will have piles of lights on it, in it, and all around it…not to mention wig-wag headlights and an audible siren. If someone tries to stop you and you see just one or two blue lights…take caution….but I can assure you that there will be no doubt when the vehicle is legit…It will look like a rolling disco.

As for the red / blue light controversy…In this area they must have a blue….they can still have red…but they must have blue in Alabama. Red alone is medical / fire.

lol thank u mustuknow….. yes i was told about this in california where red lights are the standard (san diego)....

but still after reading your post.. one single blue light is still enough to cause awareness, most cars have more than just blue strobes if not clear and/or others and most cop cars have strobes in the head lights too even if undercover? is that correct?

thank you grin

sorry for the double post too tired to be typing….

well I live in Mississippi and it basically varies upon department up here from what I can tell you.  We have some department that have the red/blue/white and then we have some departments that are strictly blue with white corner strobes but one general rule is that RED is used ONLY for FIRE DEPT and if you are FIRE PERSONNEL you had better not get caught running blue/red lights.  Blue is RESERVED for LEO’s only, now after much debate FD’s can run clear strobes which depending on the brand get more attention than anything else.  I run only clear corner strobes in my personal vehicle and I can clear the road day or night.  The thing that I have found is that with red lights you tend to get lookie loos or those who want to follow you to see where the action is, with the clear strobes and with blue lights they move over and let you through and don’t have any interest in chasing you to the scene for fear of getting a ticket…. NavyWifey, read Section 32-5-241 of the Alabama Code. It’s much more authoritative than some internet forum where anyone can post.

There is NO requirement saying they have to have red color lights.
