- The victim was stabbed and killed by his own sister.
- Deborah Jiles tells News 5 that her daughter, Maleya McMillian, picked up a knife and stabbed her brother in the heart. She says her son, 22-year-old Mustafa McMillian, was dead by the time he hit the floor.

Ash Wednesday got off to a deadly start in Fairhope.
Police are investigating a stabbing on Ingleside Avenue. A detective told News 5's Pat Peterson that the victim died before Noon. At least one person is in custody.
The coroner is on the scene along with multiple detectives and the police chief.

SUBJECT: Homicide
"On Wednesday February 25, 2009, at approximately 9:57 AM, the Fairhope Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 19000 Block of South Ingleside Drive in Fairhope. The caller stated that there were two adults fighting and that one had been stabbed. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim lying on the floor suffering from a stab wound. The alleged assailant was also in the home and was immediately taken into custody. Paramedics arrived on scene and the victim was pronounced dead. The name on the victim is not being released at this time to allow for proper notification of all family members. The name of the suspect is not being released pending formal charges. She remains in custody at the Fairhope Police Department. Although other witnesses were detained during the investigation, there are no other charges anticipated."
