Police have arrested a Mobile man for the murder of his estranged wife and another man.

A woman flagged down a patrol officer at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday on Eagle Drive. She said a shooting had occurred in her house.

Officers surrounded the house as 42-year-old Derrick Penn was trying to sneak out the back. Inside they found two people who had been shot.

43-year-old Demetrius Powe was pronounced dead at the scene. 43-year-old Janet Penn was transported to USA Medical Center where she later died.

Homicide detectives determined that Penn is Derrick's estranged wife. Her 19-year-old daughter was also in the house at the time of the shooting. She's the one who flagged down police.

Penn is charged with two counts of murder.

Im sorry to rain on everyones parade but it was not an affair, it never even happened that way they were separated for 3 years so she wanted a divorce he just didnt want to let go. She was talkn to other dudes before him its just that he had more balls than the others so he had a problem with that.

Sorry Krissie but if they were still married then it was affair…  I’m with you mom what happened to a good ole fist fight? It might of hurt your pride but it didn’t kill anyone. Things have gotten out of hand the laws need to be tougher. You kill someone then you get life (life that means dead in 6 months not 10 years).

SumOneILove this was not an affair, I am the aunt to Janet Penn.  Even if it was an affair it does not give him the right to take her life and the life of Mr. Powe.  This is a bad tragedy and I woukd not want any family to have to go through with something like this!  Please pray for my family as we go through this difficult time>

Yep still didnt give him the right to murder them though..he’ll pay the price for his actions. What happened to just beating someone up instead of killing them. I cant remember so much shooting going on back in the 1970-1980s. Need tougher laws on weapons I guess…then again the laws wouldnt stop one from obtaining one illegally would it…Lets just say love isn’t worth someones life…there’s to many fish in the sea..

Sounds like an affair.
