A woman flagged down a patrol officer at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday on Eagle Drive. She said a shooting had occurred in her house.
Officers surrounded the house as 42-year-old Derrick Penn was trying to sneak out the back. Inside they found two people who had been shot.
43-year-old Demetrius Powe was pronounced dead at the scene. 43-year-old Janet Penn was transported to USA Medical Center where she later died.
Homicide detectives determined that Penn is Derrick's estranged wife. Her 19-year-old daughter was also in the house at the time of the shooting. She's the one who flagged down police.
Penn is charged with two counts of murder.
