People living in the close-knit community just east of Loxley on County Road 68 are still trying to figure out what happened at a mobile home late Wednesday night. Andrew Buettner, angry that his wife had just left him, showed up at his brother-in-law's thinking she was there. Deputies say in a fit of rage, Buettner tried to break-in, but was shot and killed by the homeowner, his brother-in-law David Daniel.

"He became verbally aggressive and tried to gain entry into the home and he was shot," says Baldwin County Sheriff Hoss Mack. "A person has a right to protect their property and protect their family."

Daniel has not been charged in the shooting. A Baldwin County grand jury will hear the case.

Buettner's wife, Paula, a Robertsdale school teacher, was not at the mobile home when her husband was killed...a tragedy Mack says could have been prevented.

"Cooler heads would have prevailed," says Mack. "Mr. Buettner went on a person's property and was verbally aggressive, had he not taken the actions he did that night, he'd be alive today."

The late Mr. Buettner found out, much to his demise, that his brother-in-law did not wear panty hose and was not going to be intimidated by his threats “leave” meant just that.

i feel similar sirk, someone you dont even like shows up and shows thier behind and your house and you are left with a broken down door, a messed up house, and possibly with physical injiries. i have TWO sturdy fences and the house between me and the general public. all kinds of signage tellinh people to keep the heck out. my neighbors FINALLY figured out kkep out and no tresspassing mean just that.

I don’t blame the homeowner one bit.

This proves you don’t go to anyone elses house and act a fool or you will be shot.  I have often told my own family members to not even try to pull a prank on me to try and scare me because they could up at on the wrong end of a .38.

So, if they came to my door angry they would probably be shot more than once if they were trying to come in my house and they were not wanted.
