Dad Uses His 5-Year-Old Son For Panhandling

Alabama Mobile Timothy Wakefield was supposed to drop Connor Chase off at daycare. Instead he took him to the Mardi Gras parades to beg for money. Police thought the boy was missing.

Police say the father of a missing boy used him to panhandle.

Conner Chase was reported missing Tuesday. His dad was supposed to drop the 5-year-old off at daycare. Instead, Loxley police say Timothy Wakefield took Conner to beg for money during the Mardi Gras parades in downtown Mobile.

Wakefield was arrested near Broad and Government Streets Wednesday night and charged with child endangerment and interfering with custody.

News 5 will have reaction from the boy's mother tonight on News 5 at 5:00 and 6:00.

Alright, this is tough to say, but I am a family member of Timothy.

He’s been through very rough times in his life pre this situation(hence his hard looks) WHICH DO NOT EXCUSE THIS.

He is a crack cocaine addict, and has been to jail many times on counts of possession.

If you have seen the interview with the mother, she is 100% correct. He does not have a clear mind, and should be kept away from his children.

This is not to say that he is not a loving father. I would prefer for him to have supervised visits; he gets the urge to smoke the stuff, and he loses control. WHICH HIS CHILDREN DON’T NEED.

Good Lord, I know times are tough and all but dont use your kid to do your dirty work. What a sleaze and from the looks of his picture, jail time might do him some good. Little time to sober up and possibly detox—dang thats a rough looking character right there.

this man just wanted to take his kid to a parade. maybe he was short on cash and needed a few bucks for gas,smokes,beer,meth,hooker. nothing like teaching you kid about moon pies,getting by and getting high. you go Dad!
