A shocking sight in Alabama when a 100-foot construction crane used for tree cutting cuts right through an elderly woman’s home Friday (11/14).

According to authorities, 82-year-old Jean Loudon was home in Center Point, Alabama working on her cable television box when the accident happened. She says she was standing up when the roof of her home collapsed knocking her off her feet.

Loudon was standing right in the area where the crane hit, luckily she was not seriously injured and managed to crawl out from the rubble.

Neighbors said the crash into the home could be heard throughout the neighborhood.

Police say the tree cutting workers were also lucky to not have been hurt in the mishap.

Three large tow trucks were brought in to pull the crane off the home. The homeowner says she will have to stay with relatives until her home can be repaired or replaced.

Center Point is near Birmingham, Alabama.

If you want to see your hair stand on end let me tell you what they want to take down one big pine in my front yard,$2000 was an estimate.Man,I’d have to give up eating for a month or two to get that one down.maybe I can talk a herd of termites to eat it ,from the top down.grin.I believe your right Dew26m.It looks like the outrigger is pointing back from one shot. That’s gonna be one expensive tree before it’s over.

In May, I paid $1200 for a HUGE dead tree to be removed. Katrina had killed it, I guess. It was worth EVERY DIME to get that thing taken down. Nice thing about this little town, the require license, bonding and permits.

trting to talk him down, want them just brought down, i will haul or burn them. was thinkink about 250 a tree.

You know Mr. Carl, I watched the video several times, and if you look hard at the passengers side of the truck, you can see the outrigger on that side is completely bent, pointing towards the rear of the vehicle. I almost wonder if it was a mechanical failure like a cracked bushing or pin. Either way, it’s great that no one got hurt, cause it could have been really tragic. I hope they get her back in her home soon, I’m sure this feels pretty devastating to a Jean Loudon.

Claycity if you can get them taken down for $500 a piece, jump on it and then sent them my way!I’ve got two that really need to come down that scare me each hurricane season.

carl you would have a stroke, its 500 a tree over here. i got two big one;s to be taken out next week when i get home.

Looks like they had those,I guess you would call them some kind of outrigger pads down. The ground under them must have given way along with a too big of piece of the tree.I think I see two or three more trees in the back ground that look like they had been topped out.Wonder what it was going to cost her before the house damage? I’ve got one or two that I wish I could afford to have removed or topped out.
