The City of Bayou La Batre is cracking down on saggy pants.

A new goes into effect on Friday that bans big britches. The city council voted last week to get make it illegal to wear pants that expose underwear and too much skin!

If you're caught in low-hanging pants, you could get slapped with a $100 dollar fine and 8 hours of community service. Mayor Stan Wright says droopy drawers aren't a big problem, he just wants to keep it that way. "I think when your crack is showing you know there's just some things not presentable. You know some people's born ugly like me that's something you can't help but a lot of people can help the way they dress."

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) believes restricting clothing is a violation of one's "personal freedom of expression."

The new saggy pants law goes into effect on Friday. If you'd like to read the new ordinance, click here.

I finally figured it out. These cats with the sagging pants just left Herman’s courtroom and forgot to pull their pants up. A Judge’s order stands until a higher court rules it void. The recent ones haven’t been told that Pee Wee Herman isn’t a Judge anymore. Apparently they have committed a crime and are prepared to take their punishment.

I have spent years ministering in prisons and watching this particular dress code. In the system it means a man is “available”. Yet, the young men have mistaken this as a macho sign of one who is a “thug” with a prison background. I would never allow my son to walk around this way and personally feel that parents who do, are not interested in the role model that is being shown to their children. I applaud the Mayor.

It’s about time someone “spined up” and did something about this baggy britches issue.  Those who sport that look evidently think it’s attractive or cool.  If they could only see themselves as the majority of people see them - as goofballs without any sense of originality. True, imitation is the highest form of flattery, hmmmm, I read that this underwear showing fashion trend began in prisons.  Perhaps we need to label these posers as “Inmate Wannabes”. Just grow up.  Exert all that energy used in showing your behind into something that will better yourself and your community.  Can we imagine what all the young people could accomplish if they were to really put their minds to it?  Stop being followers. Become leaders.  Time is short folks.

I started out thinking this saggy pants thing was a dissrespect issue. Now it seems to be leaning towards GAY PRIDE.

I’m not condoning this manner of dressing nor am I condoning the said legislation either.  I’m on the fence.  While I would never let my children dress that way, I do feel that the law (as proposed) is very close to being unconstitutional.  If these people choose to represent themselves in such a demoralizing fashion then so be it.  I can look the other way.  I just disagree with the basis of your arguement.  I have seen plenty of females dress the same way.  I know that you feel strongly about this and I just felt that people may hear you better if you base your opposition on facts.  Good luck!

You know as well as I know this law was intended to stop males from dressing this way.  I don’t see hip-huggers or tank top or bikinis.  This is against men and the VERY FEW others who may dress this way.  Thanks though for at least having and open mind on this issue.  That is really great to see.

Women don’t exist or have a place in gayboys pea brain. He forgot to take his meds again today.

Gay Power - where in the proposed law do you read that it only governs the way males where their pants?  I’m afraid that you are taking the wrong approach here.  Oppose the legislation on the basis of Constitutional rights instead of basing your opposition on discrimination and you may gain more support.  The basis of discrimination appears to be invalid.  Just some advice.  If I am mistaken then please show me where it says the law only governs men.

While Satan moved over a small town in Alabama and oppressed the males of the community today, God moved over the State of Iowa and freed the males from the oppression of the evil ones.

bamabob the key word you said is appear to be clean. if they are to sorry to wear their pants up could it be they are to lazy to change underwear?
