A fire destroyed their home in the middle of the night. Now a Mobile family fears they could be homeless in a few days. Cassandra Clark says she and her two children barely escaped the fire that burned down their home early this morning in the Plateau Community.
The Mobile Fire Department says the fire was electrical and started in the bathroom.
Clark blames a light fixture that she says her landlord has refused to fix, for the past year and a half.
The landlord didn't want to go on camera, but he tells News Five he got her complaint just last Thursday.
He also says her complaint wasn't very specific and that she never mentioned a light fixture.
While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, Clark is sticking to her claims.
"So I'm just hoping that this doesn't happen to anybody else. If they dealing with a landlord that don't want to fix the house, the best thing to do is get out,"Said Cassandra Clark.
The Red Cross is providing clothing and a temporary hotel stay for the Clark family.
After that, they hope to get shelter at the Salvation Army.
