Mobile policemen and Mobile firefighters went head to head today, Saturday, August 8, 2009 for a good cause. They faced off in an annual basketball shootout at LeFlore High School this afternoon. The money raised will go to Volunteers of America. Organizers say it will help fund improvements to their enrichment center.“To show that the police department and the fire department can work together and they also pick a charity organization to donate the money to, we support them 100 percent,” says Volunteers of America Director of the Community Enrichment Center Lynn Miller. Mobile Police totally put the cuffs on the firefighter's game. The cops went on to defeat fire-rescue 86 to 59.
