It's a growing problem that's affecting thousands of American homeowners.
Brand new homes--rotting away from the inside out because of toxic drywall.
It's estimated 60-thousand homes nationwide could be affected.
Three federal agencies are now investigating.
As early as 2004, a housing boom led to a dramatic shortage of US manufactured drywall.
To keep up with demand, builders turned to China.
Health officials now suspect the Chinese product was contaminated with dangerous chemicals.
We meet a family that built a dream home...and strange things started happening.
The stove stopped working....pennies started to corrode...and a host of other problems.
The chemicals in the drywall caused copper in the home to corrode.
There are no federal standards for the inspection, production or importation of dry wall.
And Now, CBS News has learned that the problem may also involve an American company based North Carolina.

CHINA has the perfect answer to their toxic waste problems! They sell it to us at a cheaper rate than other countries. No telling how many Americans will die in the coming years from all the toxic stuff we are getting from them! There would be a U.N. meeting condemning America if an American company was found doing this.

And our government wants to give out free condoms from China. Things may start rotting from the inside out or corroding, or just stop working.
