State Troopers say it will take several more hours to clean up the wreckage on I-10. But the good news is the interstate is not closed as first reported.According to Cpl. Joe Piggot, two ladies in an Oldsmobile Cutlass slowed down to make an illegal U-Turn on westbound I-10, just east of McDonald Road. A Chevy Blazer swerved to miss the car and drove into the woods. A truck hauling cement then swerved to miss the Cutlass and drove onto the median where it overturned. The Cutlass then hit the truck. The driver and her passenger were transported to Infirmary West with minor injuries.
The wreck happened around 11:30 a.m. Troopers first told News 5 the interstate was closed because of the accident. But it turns out the wreckage was all in the median, so they didn't have to stop traffic.
