
"There's a lot of people that lock their doors after 7 o'clock and won't let anybody in,"Said the store clerk.
She bought a can of mace last night to protect her mother's clothing store off Old Pascagoula Road.
From watching police swarm the area during yesterday's officer involved shooting, to a deadly robbery at the Cash and Dash just three months ago, she says Tillmans Corner is anything but safe.
"We're actually thinking about getting a firearm to have behind the counter, for the simple fact that that's the only thing that saved the man from the Cash and Dash."
On Wednesday, Atchison says 3 women came in to her store and shoplifted. Surveillance video shows a woman turning her back to the camera while placing a garment in her bag.
"The alarm went off, I chased them out to the car and after they finally gave me one of the outfits back I come back and look at the camera, they still had 4 more,"Said Atchison.
Despite the recent number of crimes in the area, Terry Boylston doesn't think it's anything out of the ordinary.
"I've lived here for about 4 years and I ain't had any problems as far as anyone approaching me or trying to shoot at me or anything like that."
Neither has Atchison, but after watching it happen right next door she believes she could be next.
