MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - An attorney for a Mississippi woman charged
in the 1980 shooting death of a University of South Alabama
classmate hopes to have her $500,000 bail reduced at a court
hearing.
A Mobile County judge set a hearing Thursday for 47-year-old
Jamie Kellam Letson of Pascagoula, who is charged with murder in
the Feb. 21, 1980 slaying of 18-year-old Katherine Foster, also of
Pascagoula.
Foster had been shot twice in the back of her head with a
.22-caliber gun. Her body was left in woods near the USA campus in
Mobile.
Letson was arrested Nov. 21 at a shelter in Jackson, Miss.
Police believe jealousy of Foster's boyfriend may have been a
factor in the slaying, but prosecutors haven't disclosed a motive.
Letson attorney Chris Klotz said his client is not guilty.
