A Coden church destroyed by fire is coming back. Sweet Bethel Missionary Baptist Church was heavily burned in June. Pastor Darrell Jones says the congregation is planning to rebuild. He says they should start construction on a new church soon. It will near the original site of the nearly century-old Sweet Bethel. Jones says the new church might be ready by December or January. The congregation is holding a fundraiser September 26th in Prichard to raise money. They'll hold a benefit at the Mobile Baptist Sunlight Auditorium from 5 to 8 that Saturday night. My colleges and I have done several stories on this church. Here’s the first one when it was burned down. Here’s another when they held their first service after the fire. Here’s where they’re worshiping now.
