A big drug bust in Saraland, but investigators are being tight lipped about it.
The department will only say that officers seized 100 kilos of cocaine. That's about 220 pounds.
Saraland Police will hold a news conference Monday morning at 10:00. We will keep you posted.
Back in June 2007, Saraland Police made a huge cocaine bust on Interstate 65.
A man and woman tried to hide over 200 pounds of cocaine in their car.
A Saraland officer found the cocaine hidden in a secret compartment.
Police said the drugs had a street value of more than $9 Million.

the dr shoppers should be more under control now. i know they made it a lot harder for people who really needed pain management to get it.  i asked a dr one time for a b12 shot and you would have thought i asked for crack.  unreal. i agree about the loss of profit. look at all the rehab in hollywood.

IMO…As crazy as this may sound to some..I believe that if you could snap your fingers and make all illegal drugs disappear from the planet…it would be an economic catastrophy. The loss of income across the board / all sides if it would be huge. The Law Enforcement side, judicial side, and the Illegeal manufactures, traffickers, and sellers would be out of income or a significant amount of income. Its a necessary evil in the world to provide money with socially accepted collateral damage.

Cocaine / Meth / Heroin etc. cant hold a candle to Prescription Drug abuse. Pain Management Doctors and people “doctor shopping” have contributed to this problem and it is huge

dew i am quite older than you and believe it or not i saw a lot growing up. drugs use was glamorized in the late 60’s because of the hippy movement. art linkletters daughter jumped out of a window on lsd. as far back as the 30s you can hear it on some albums they called it funny weed. look at what a talent taken away before her time because of heroin, billie holiday.  drugs should be considered part of the war on terror.  i think i read somewhere the largest retail market in the world for drugs is america.

Thanks Jamie!

butterflykisser101,

Here’s the info from today’s 10:00 a.m. news conference

rosepetal, heroin may be a problematic drug in some areas and cities, it’s not nearly as predominate as crack/cocaine. I’m 29 years old, and done almost every drug on the face of the planet EXCEPT that one. Probably because I have only seen it one time in my life. You can go to ANY major city and find crack/cocaine without even trying to because most dealers have no fear of the citizens or the police. Cocaine and Crack kill more people EVERY YEAR directly and indirectly, than the terrorists did on 911, or will in the next 10 years. I’m not saying that we shouldn’t fight terrorism, I’m just saying that there’s also other wars that could be fought to protect our children and our citizens.

so where’s the press conference that was at 10:00am?

whoa, dew people have a choice with drugs they did not on 9/11. big difference. now the poppy fields of afganastan ( not sure of spelling ) a lot were destroyed with the invasion. that map was pretty interesting because you had several countries involved using mexico as a pipeline.  do you know how much money americans have invested in panama? a war would put a lot of americans who have moved to countries like puerto rica, honduras at risk. a lot of americans retire to these countries.

Dew:  You are to be respected for admitting your past addiction.  It takes a real man to admit his mistakes and be willing to help others avoid making the same mistakes.

Rose:  You are correct, guns in the hands of our youth are a problem but usually there is other things at play that bring them to the point that they have the gun in their possession and to the point that they are willing to take anothers life.

It amazes me how many drugs get through our borders only to be caught on the highway.  It scares the heck out of me how many people on the highway are under the influence of some mind altering substance.

Keep up the good work LEO’s from all towns, counties, states, etc.  Maybe one day we will not have to worry about our children being exposed to drugs.
