Coast Guard Calls Off Search For Missing Police Officer

Mississippi Missing BREAKING NEWS Ocean Springs police officer Stephen Bond has been missing since his boat capzised Sunday off the coast of Mississippi.

The Coast Guard has called off its search for Ocean Springs police officer Stephen Bond.

Bond and four other people were in a boat that capsized Sunday about three miles west of Horn Island, Mississippi. The Coast Guard rescued Officer Michael Green, his girlfriend Becky Welch, Officer Jonathan Navas and his wife Whitney just before Noon on Monday.

Coast Guard crews from Mobile, Gulfport, Pascagoula and New Orleans searched 57 hours for Bond, covering an area twice the size of Rhode Island.

Ocean Springs police reiterated they will continue searching until they find Bond.

Per today’s newspaper when the boat capsized they were all together, someone threw out a box of 6 life jackets, Bond was last seen holding onto the overturned boat.  They said that the current and the wind had them all seperated within minutes.  I pray that there is a happy ending to this story. His friends and family are in my prayers.

One of the girls said that when the boat went over the four of them grabbed a life jacket but she didn’t say anything about this young man.

Did the survivors ever make a statement about why he became separated from the group?  A gut feeling told me that he tried to swim for help.
