Thanks Ill go read that one. This is real sad, I have some friends in Bay Minette that knew this famly. I hope they do find out what happened.

jlb-that link initially took me to the June 17th report, but if you scroll to the bottom of that article under todays headlines or top stories,it does have the report that is in today’s paper.

This is all so very sad. I cannot imagine what they are going through. I know after having lost my dad, and never knowing the “whys”-that is the worst part, not knowing…My prayers are with the family.

here is the story where the husband speaks about what happened that night. Very strange events.

the thing thats gets me is her husband said in an interview she left her room key?

What liability would Carnival have in this?

The family “deserves” the benefit of being innoncent until proven otherwise.  So just imagine that no fault was excercised by anyone in the family; the father, son, or the victim.  How much hurt must they feel reading these posts analyzing their behavior, lifestyle choices, past family tragedies, etc?  What if the lady simply went up to play slots, won some $$, and went for a walk on the deck only to get robbed and pushed overboard?  It is as plausible as any other notion suggested on this blog.  As a three time cruiser, I will think long and hard before I go again.  Can’t help but question Carnival’s actions/liability in this matter.

Why don’t they just let us solve these mysteries.  With all of us together (actually wouldn’t take all of us) we could come up with an answer before the feds or locals do and it would be the RIGHT conclusion.  I know we could do it.

I agree RM, the mentioning of the death of her daughter must have been made public for a reason. I also found it to be strange when it mentioned her husband as being a merchant marine and for her to go missing from a ship was just a little too ironic.
We can all keep guessing at this point not knowing the family but I’m sure they (the family) has their own likely scenarios and for what possible reasons this could have happened.
My thoughts are with them for having to go through this and I hope they find the answers they need to give them some sort of closure.

The paper also mentioned the death of a 20 year old daughter, and that she was never the same after that. I wonder if the cruise coincided with any special dates of the daughter-like a birthday? Looking at pictures of her,she LOOKS happy-but looks can be so deceiving. Some people can be laughing on the outside, and an emotional wreck on the inside. Regardless of WHAT happened or HOW it happened-it is still a very sad story, and my thoughts and prayers to the family.

A friend of mine emailed me a few minutes ago to say she has been on that ship and had a room with a balcony.  Said you would have to poll vault to go over those rails and even then she wasn’t sure a person could make it over.
