South Alabama basketball coach Ronnie Arrow is taking some heat for getting heated with referees after a last second loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Jags took a one point lead with 2.4 seconds left Saturday night on Dominic Tilford's three-pointer. But the Ragin' Cajuns came right back and hit a shot at the buzzer from way downtown to win 67-65.

Arrow is convinced the shot didn't leave the players' hand until after the buzzer had sounded, which would mean it wouldn't count. But the play couldn't be reviewed because there is no court side monitor at the Cajundome. Arrow was beside himself that a Division 1 school wouldn't have a monitor. Click play to watch his meltdown.

News 5 contacted Arrow for comment, but the University said he is out of town on a recruiting trip.

As far as I can see, he is right…the buzzer did sound after the ball left his hands.

Please tell me that you had a fifth grader type this story WKRG.  Please tell me that it wasn’t someone from your staff that should have a degree in - or at the VERY least a mastery of - the English language.

To quote your article: “South Alabama basketball coach Ronnie Arrow is taking some heat for getting heated with referee’s [sic] after a last second loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.”

Really?  “Referee’s”?  What exactly were the referees possessing in the last-second loss to Louisiana-Lafayette?  Well, obviously they weren’t in possession of a monitor, but they should also not be in possession of an apostrophe denoting possession in your article.

Dern Rosie, folks would think we were buddies. Of course, I went to both games today to watch USA win. Our coaches are high spirited. On campus, I noted that each of our tennis courts has numerous cameras. We have monitors during matches just for those little disputes. I also noticed that their are SEVERAL monitors on the officials’ table in the Mitchell Center.

ULL spent serious cash to have wrap around digital display at ULL. Why not put at least a cheap monitor on the official’s table and supply some video feed?

NOcajun, you are being silly. You don’t know how many games (here and away)I attend each year nor how full my dance card is with USA fans who travel. Check out Jagsjungle.com, it’s a scout dot com chat board for USA. There were some first hand accounts posted there. If you are a member, you can read more.

USA Football, still undefeated!!!!

sorry should have said “a fan’. but, southfan1981 is right. southfan1981 has shown nothing but class on this debate.  a fraction of a second has lost and won many games.

ncaa, you sure are not acting like you ever saw an role model. where do you attend class?

Southfan, get over it.  You didn’t talk to ANYBODY.  You’re just making excuses for a “man” who was acting like a sniveling little KID who couldn’t get his way, PERIOD!!!  Even in the video, Arrow himself saw the shot leave Daigle’s hand with 0.1 second left on the clock.  NO ONE has said anything about when the clock was started but YOU.  If Wright Waters had a pair, he would’ve released a statement the very next day condemning Arrow’s actions and would’ve also issued a statement of reprimand threatening fines for any similar, future behavior.

And I hear from people who were there.. fans of both sides (neither were fans of SunBelt officials) that the timekeeper started the shot clock late. We all know what fractions of a second may mean in a sporting event.

Monitors are cheap. Teams normally are recording play for their benefit. It’s not that big of a deal until the game comes down to the last seconds.

I wonder if INTERPRET is one of the VOC REHAB placements?

DEW26M, you say it best .....

“Sorry if I feel that those who are looked up to should set a good example. I guess it was only my mother who taught that a real man does not cuss/swear or fight in front of a woman. If you think his actions are to be applauded for, than go for it…..”

uhhhh, I believe that sums it up in a nutshell

“RONNIE ARROW’S profanity-laced tirade at the end of last Saturday’s game in Lafayette, La., was an embarrassment to the University of South Alabama.”

“The Jags aren’t having a stellar year, but that doesn’t excuse what he did next, which was to storm over to the scorer’s table and berate Louisiana-Lafayette representatives….”

“Video posted on WKRG.com shows Coach Arrow shouting at security guards and Louisiana-Lafayette representatives.”

=FROM USA’s HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER?  Perhaps they know what good sportsmanship is about.  And had Arrow looked up up up up up, he would have seen the shot replayed on the arena’s JUMBOTRON immediately after the shot, with time left on the clock and all. Instead he was busy making an arse of himself…. which he is an expert at. It’s a GOOD thing the refs left the floor, as sanctions would be flowing his way from ALL corners. Gottfried is gonadless if he lets this guy continue with these and OTHER antics, which shows his real Bleeping personality

Woa Woa… Simpsons case has nothing to do with this whatsoever, so you better leave him out of it. Arrow has every right to be upset, I’m sure if you were that passionate about something you would be extremely upset as well.. you wouldn’t justify the other side by replaying rules in your head. And regardless of how discusting and horrible Simpson’s home life is; he was a great professor and his students liked and respected him a lot.
