A weekend of Civil War history draws to a close. The annual Siege of Fort Blakely reenactment finished up Sunday afternoon. Sunday's battle re-creates one of the final conflicts of the Civil War. Organizers say they had more than 100 people take part in the simulated battle.Historical re-enactors say this is a chance to help preserve history.
“Also the purpose of its glorious history to the American history and those lessons without actually seeing men walk the field,” says park coordinator Steve Thomas. The original battle took place 140 years ago. The city of mobile would surrender the following day.
