Assistant District Attorney Steve Giardini says lawyers on both sides agreed to delay the case, but he could not say why.
Bob Ingle was arrested in December 2006 on rape, sodomy and sexual abuse charges. The case has been delayed multiple times since his alleged victim, 11 year old Rebecca McEvoy died in a car crash in January 2008.
Ingle's attorney has argued his client's constitutional right to confront his accuser will be violated if he is forced to stand trial, but earlier this year, the Alabama Supreme Court sided with prosecutors, allowing the trial to go forward.
Jury selection was scheduled for this morning, but was cancelled.
