
Police tell News 5 they spotted a silver car driving erratically this morning on eastbound I-10. When the officer pulled Suzanne Morrison over, they say she downed a drink.
The officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol when Morrison rolled down the window. Police say she failed both the breathalyzer and field sobriety test.
According to her bio on the school's website, Morrison graduated from Alba High School in 1985, earned a bachelor degree from the University of South Alabama in 1989 and her masters in 2000.She has taught physical education for 20 years, the last 19 at Chickasaw Elementary.
A spokesperson for Mobile County Schools says Morrison has been put on paid administrative leave. Superintendent Dr. Roy Nichols says the school district is "taking a step back" to figure out what really happened. Dr. Nichols says Morrison will be allowed to return to work next Tuesday.
