There was a massive manhunt Friday night in Prichard to find William Kidd.
Prichard Police said earlier this month, Kidd shot two men, killing one and paralyzing the other.
Speaking of Kidd, Prichard Police Chief Lawrence Battiste IV said,"He ranks up there at the top of my chart in my four years as a chief here as one of our most violent offenders."
That's why U.S Marshals joined local police searching for Kidd.
They armed themselves with high powered weapons and bullet proof vests, setting up check points around an eight block area.
Battiste said, "We put together an operation to set up a perimeter to try to strangle off different locations where we believe Mr. William Kidd may have frequented in the last couple of days."
Authorities are also looking for a man named Tony Overstreet.
They said they had reports he associates with Kidd.
Battiste said Overstreet "has a number of felony charges, as well as misdemeanor charges against him, and we'd like to take both of these individuals in custody."
Along the way, authorities said they also arrested a number of people on outstanding warrants.
But Battiste said, "Our goal is to put Mr. Kidd in jail and, until he's in jail, we won't rest as a community of law enforcement."
Chief Battiste said police are giving a reward for anyone providing information that leads to Kidd being arrested.
He didn't say exactly how much, but that the reward was substantial.

All i got to say about this afraid of being putout about the traffic stops .How about if old Kidd would have pulled you over as he did several people and took their car and could have easily taken their life? If they want they can come shake out my closet I haven’t got anything to hide so I am not sweating a few questions at a roadblock only people who are in violation of the law should have any worries at a traffic stop.Makes sense to me

Thanks NightOwl. I am quite confident that Dougie will keep this one going for awhile. LOL. Do not worry Doug. The others will not leave you high and dry without a good argument. We know you thrive off of getting a rise out of people. I will probably be able to pop in at night right before bed. Have fun everyone and be safe. smile

Mini..Hope you have a good week with your family.

Try to check in once in awhile….this one might go on for some time LOL.

LoL. Yes outlaw, a little early for getting so riled up, but after this morning I will not be getting on until later next week because I have family coming in early Monday and I have to do some cleaning. So I am getting it all out in one fail swoop. I can not leave without leaving poor dougie some kind comforting words to remember me by. smile Oh dougie how these posts would not be as amusing without your comments.

My you getting riled up early this morning mini all that counts is the bad guy didn’t get away he has acted like some kind of gangster lets see that the courts treat him as one .This one never needs to see the light of day again he has proven that he does not belong in society.

It is not shocking that a story with the word “checkpoint” has put you once again into a frenzy dougstech. Another tip, there is nothing illegal about LE going door to door to ask questions and look for a subject. Now yes they have to have a search warrant and probable cause to enter the resident and search, but they do not need a search warrant to knock on a door and ask questions. Thankfully this subject was caught a taken off the streets. Way to go MPD. Thankfully they were able to get other subjects off the streets with outstanding warrants. It is very clear that you, dougstech, have no real knowledge of how LE works. I do not know what gives you the idea that your inconveniences is more important than the safety of the community, but it is time to step off your high horse. Instead of constantly complaining about our community’s LE maybe you should think about relocating somewhere else. You sir are a classic example of someone complaining about an issue but not wanting to do a thing about it besides wanting to listen to yourself rant and rave any and every time there is a story in correlation with LE.

Dougstech…Since you are a student of the constitution ans Supreme Court, I’m sure you read this from their rulings:

“The U.S. Supreme Court authorized police roadblocks to collect tips about unsolved crimes today”,

January 13, 2004, published in , “The Supreme Court Watch”...

Or, maybe you don’t want to muddy the waters with facts?

dougstech…You seem to be a very troubled person when it comes to “Law Enforcement"I wouldn’t care how they handled it,as long as they get a dangerous person off the street before they actually hurt or kill a innocent person.Has there ever been a situation where you have actually sided with law enforcement? I’ve never seen you post anything confirming it.

I would think that honest people would want this person captured, and would have no problem if the police knocked on their door to ask if they had seen him. I agree alabamoutlaw-dead or alive-and from what I know,  I hope dead.

Be honest if he walked in my yard they would probabaly have to carry him out . He shows no respect for life and anyone that harbors him is just as guilty.Have no problem with a ticket if I am wrong then i am wrong. But it will be a have to situation to make me be in violation of the laws. It’s a lot easier to comply than to resist. A person has certain rights that can’t be infringed on and will not be because they know how far they can go,Remember they are the law. When someone takes a 7.62 and shoots up a neighbood not once but twice something has to be done.Dead or Alive
