MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Prosecutors dismissed a theft charge against
a former assistant baseball coach at the University of South
Alabama, who had been accused of stealing artificial turf.
Ron Pelletier was booked into Mobile Metro Jail on Jan. 15.
Police said the 51-year-old Pelletier was charged with first-degree
theft for allegedly taking sections of artificial grass that had
been donated by an arena football team when it disbanded.
Mobile County Assistant District Attorney Nicki Patterson said
Tuesday after talks with the university and a review of the facts
and circumstances, the charge has been dismissed.
A former USA baseball player, Pelletier was an assistant coach
for 17 years before becoming the school's athletic grounds
technician.

Bana, Note: “after talks with the university and a review of the facts and circumstances, the charge has been dismissed.” It looks like he didn’t STEAL the turf. Perhaps, someone forgot they gave him permission to dispose of the rolls that had been lying around for years?

Probably let the guy off the hook, because the jails are overcrowded with people that have junk in their own property…..
