CFL Player Couldn’t Outrun Police

Ocean Springs Police Department Media Release


"Ocean Springs, MS – A Canadian Football Player was arrested by Ocean Springs officers’ after a short chase on Sunday. According to officers involved, Jason E. Armstead (DOB 9-18-79) of Fredrick Street in Moss Point was following his ex girlfriend trying to get her to pull over. He brandished a pistol and waved it at the victim, motioning for her to pull over. The victim, Jeremi D. Price (DOB 9-5-81) of Mill Ave. in Moss Point, called 911 to get help from the police. She ended up at the Chevron station on US 90 at Parktown Drive. He apparently followed her from Singing River Mall in Gautier. Officer Mike Green saw the suspect vehicle, a 2004 white BMW, behind the victims sliver Cadillac. When Officer Green attempted to pull over the suspect, he led him on a short chase into the Wal-Mart parking lot on US 90. Armstead was arrested and had a .40 caliber Tactical Smith & Wesson handgun, similar to what police carry, inside the front armrest, loaded with a round in the chamber. Armstead was taken to the Ocean Springs city jail and later bonded out. He was charged with domestic violence and failure to stop for blue lights and siren."


Armstead currently plays for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadien Football League.
