Jury Finds Lam Luong Guilty

BREAKING NEWS

12:00 p.m.
- Lam Luong is found guilty on all 5 counts of capital murder.
- It took the jurors about 45 minutes to deliver their verdict.
- Luong will be sentenced on Friday.
- The jury has two choices, the death penalty or life in prison without parole.

11:50 a.m.
After deliberating for less than an hour, the jury has reached a verdict.

10:55 a.m.
- The jury started deliberating at 10:50 a.m.

9:58 a.m.
The fate of Lam Luong is in the hands of a jury.

Luong is the Irvington father accused of throwing his four young kids off the Dauphin Island Bridge last year.

Both sides presented closing arguments Friday morning. The state says they have proven intent and want the jury to convict Luong of capital murder. The defense says Luong was intoxicated the day of the crime and was incapable of forming the necessary intent to be convicted of a capital offense. They asked the jury to convict Luong of manslaughter.

If Luong is convicted of capital murder, he could be sentenced to death or life in prison without parole.

A verdict is expected later today. Sentencing would begin tomorrow.

I agree, throw him off the bridge and let’s see who’s smiling. He is a cold hearted evil person. Those precious children were taken for no reason. My heart bleeds for the mother and her family.

Excuse me, I misunderstood the reasoning for the 5 counts of Capital murder… here is the correct one- five counts of capital murder, one for each child and one extra because the case involves multiple victims. Capital murder is Alabama’s only charge that carries a potential death sentence

Justice has been served. I do however feel very sorry for the mother of the four children. She is dealing with alot of different feelings, not only does she have to deal with the loss of her children, she is also dealing with the loss of her husband. Even though he did a horrible thing and most of her soul hates him, He is also a man she spent alot of years with and obviously loved at one time. I am sure she is very mixed up and needs more prayers now then ever.
All of my prayers are with her.

The 5th count of capital Murder charge is due to the fact, that it was in some way, a premeditated form of murder. He knew what his plans were when he drove over to dauphin island that morning. So with the premeditation it becomes a 5th capital murder charge.

Justice can never be truly served as the father only has one life to take. It’s a truly horrible thing for the poor mother who like the spokesman for the family stated, has lost five people in her life. I wanted to commend the spokesman for the good job he has done for the family. Our prayers continue to go out to the family. May God grant this lady the strength to rebuild her life.

hmm instead of letting him grow old in prison and then finally taking him out the government should just tie a bag of cement to him and toss him off the same bridge….. seems fair to me.

It was an all inclusive murder charge. I do not know the legal title for this charge. One charge for each child and then one charge to include all children.
