Boeing is making big changes to its strategy in the battle for the $40 billion tanker contract.

Company executives announced Monday at the Paris Air Show that Boeing will pitch tankers based on both the 777 and 767 when the contest resumes in a few weeks. Both planes are commercial jets.

Northrop Grumman/EADS won the contract to build 179 tankers for the Air Force in February 2008. But the Government Accountability Office upheld a protest filed by Boeing and the Pentagon canceled the contract.

If Northrop Grumman/EADS wins the contract again, the planes will be built at Brookley Field in Mobile.

During its presentation at the air show, Northrop Grumman argued the kc-30 is still the superior plane and the best value for America.

Shame our President started out as a President of the People and turned into a President for the rich and big business, YES Boeing will get the Contract

The “Miracle on the Hudson” does raise some interesting questions.  Is there that much difference between the Airbus A320 and the A330?  The Hudson landing was completely dependent upon Sullenberger’s experience as a pilot and his ability to take control of the aircraft.

The big debate about the A330 is that there was probably a battle going on between the pilot and the jet’s computers, because the prevalent design theory at Airbus is complete automation and control.

Interesting….

What? Boeing wants to change the 70 year old design now? I wonder where they got the idea the America wants the biggest and the best, not the oldest.

I doubt that Boeing would want to bring up the subject of design flaws being they have an endless list of their own flaws which includes their outer skin flaws and their rivet flaws, landing gear flaws, overhead compartment design flaws, window gasket seal flaws and their extensive electrical design flaws to name a few.
That would be an interesting subject to witness between EADS and Boeing even though the mysterious crash over the Atlantic was an Air Bus but many have said that the way the Air Bus held together so beautifully over the Hudson River and saved so many lives would have probably come apart and would have been a whole different outcome had it been a Boeing aircraft based on their skin and rivet design flaws.
I would say EADS/AIR BUS is ready for whatever Boeing may want to counter with and Barack should just keep his big mouth shut.

The Airbus A330 sure has been getting some bad press about its design theory.  I wonder if that will be used as an explanation when Obama gives the tanker deal to Boeing in order to pay off the union for their support?
