BREAKING NEWS

The Mobile County Sheriff's Flotilla has found the body of a missing crabber.

They located Somphane Souwankham's body around 3:30 p.m. using sonar equipment. It was located about a quarter mile from where his boat was found Monday night. Divers recovered the body just before 5:00 p.m.

Souwankham went crabbing Monday and was supposed to come back around 3:00 p.m.

Late Monday night, Souwankham's family found his 20-foot boat north of Fowl River on Gilliard Island with a crab trap and life jackets still on board.

Souwankham moved here from Minnesota six months ago with his wife and three boys. A family friend says they left Minnesota because of the cold. Souwankham loved the idea of coming to Alabama because he loved the freedom of being on the water.

Come on “WKRG Staff”, just because the man has passed does not make his remains qualify as a “IT”! I think it would have been much more respectful to say “HE was located about a quarter mile from where his boat was found Monday night.”

May GOD be with his family, and lay a watchful eye on all who loved him! amen

My he rest in peace.  God be with his wife and children.  So sad.
