Well, FOX, I expect it from the people who post on here, because I don’t expect them to have the same literary integrity of a reporter. However, Pat emailed and apologized to me, insisting he meant the figure of speech.

I’m not sure how black Friday shopping is “trivial; worthless; only of interest to gullible people,” since it helps stimulate our economy and helps local businesses make a large portion of their yearly sales.

Because its definition only seems to fit if he’s using “bird” to describe the women he was stereotyping, I felt that it was being used in an offensive manner.

Now I think he just didn’t have a complete grasp on the meaning of the phrase before he used it.
