What really happened behind a secluded sand-dune near Perdido Pass in Orange Beach Saturday night? For the past five days, the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office has been investigating a rape report filed by a local woman. The woman claims she was pulled over by officers in Orange Beach, then sexually assaulted.
"We're concerned it very much could have happened," says Orange Beach Police Chief Billy Wilkins.
"One of the reasons why it's taking a little longer to solve this is because the victim is being somewhat hesitant about some parts of the case now," says Baldwin County Sheriff Hoss Mack.
Chief Wilkins says all six of his officers working on the night in question passed polygraph tests.
"In my mind, the polygraph was my Ace in the Hole," says Wilkins. "I think the tests show my men were not involved in what the woman has claimed."
Sheriff Mack would not comment on what law enforcement agencies are under fire, but he did tell News 5 nobody, at this point, is being ruled out.
Mack also says several private security firms in Orange Beach are being looked at.
